i have had three children 2 boys w/ the epideral and my daughter natural i suggest that you do get an epideral..... the epideral will take the edge away from your contractions but it will not completely take away the pain it does make labor a little easier to handle but let me tell you having a child natural is the hardest thing i ever did i was yelling at people and the pain for those 8 hrs of labor were so unbarable for me that i could not think straight i was climbing the wall i though it would never end................

epidural blocks pain so it blocks you ability to feel when you have to push and to control how you are pushing; I have had 4 children , one with epidural and 3 with nothing by the time I was ready to take something, I was ready to deliver; it was hard with the epidural b/c you don't have the feeling to know when and if you are pushing correctly; don't be a martyr, if you can ease the birth process , feel free ; only you can decide once the birth process starts what you can endure and will need; people have this grandeur of natural vaginal birth; if things are going slow and it is recommended to have a csection etc; listen; if you feel that you can't stand the pain while you are there , get your epidural; what is right for one is not right for the other; no apologies for your choice! In the end, it is the baby health and yours that matters!! This is a wonderful time for you - enjoy it and enjoy your new baby!!! The very best to both of you and your family! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

P.S. everyone is anxious when we are there; there are other things that they give you if you feel that you are going to have an anxiety attack; it will be okay ; you are doing this for that sweet baby who will change your life forever; you can do it!!! we all felt like you do now; it is more than common; relax and don't worry ; when you get there , you have experienced people to help you; don't be afraid to ask your doctor if he can give you something to take the edge off ; or take a yoga class? ask your ob/gyn's office what is available and what you can do ie. yoga etc ; go for some relaxation classes to help you get in the right frame of mind; YOU ARE HAVING A BABY - how exciting , pamper yourself now; you deserve it ; it will be okay - you are going to be a Mom!!
