Mickey Mantle in his prime.
Lou Gehrig.

I would just sit back and listen.

I have to agree with the one person who questioned why only a Yankee?
If I could get an explanation on how he thought he could make Texas a contending team with a $25 million contract, I would gladly sit down with Arod.
If I could hear a good explanation on why steroids was the way to go to keep a career alive, I would be willing to talk to Giambi.
If I could hear a good reason to see that spending millions more than (most) other teams just to satisfy a spoiled child's need to win, I wouldn't mind talking to Steinbrenner.
However, If I was to just talk to people, I wouldn't want to be restricted to just Yankees.
Although, I would take Ruth, not because he was a Yankee, but because he was the greatest batter in history.
I think I would go with Satchel Paige as well, to understand just how resentful (if at all) segregation was for them.
Probably Stan Musial as well, seems like an un-noticed icon in baseball history.

I'd have two separate dinner parties.
1 the Party Crowd
Berra for the Converstation
Ruth for the Party
Mantle for the Party and the Women
You could also consider Billy Martin to drive
2 the Intellectual Crowd (if you can call it that)
DiMaggio - What's it like being Mr. Coffee, Mr. Monroe, Mr. Streak
Maris - What do you really think about McGwire, Sosa and Bonds
Gehrig - An American Icon

I would pick Don Zimmer because he is the greatest baseball character ever. For crying out loud, he retired as a coach from the Rockies in the middle of a game.
I would pick Billy Martin because he had a lot of history all around the majors and would be a lot of fun.
I would pick Steve Howe because he would have some great blow.
I might however pick Steinbrenner, Cashman and A-Rod and blow myself and them up in the room because i think baseball would be better without all of them in it.

I'd pick -
Giambi
R. Johnson
Pavano
Then, I would ask them how it feels to be whores who only go to NY to play for the Yankees.
New York sucks.
Chicago = New York minus the dirt and disease...

Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Babe Ruth because one's funny, one's classy, and one's a legend if there ever was one.

How about taking off your blinders and realizing that there are other teams.
Hank Aaron
Jackie Robinson
HIdeo Nomo (with a translator, of course)
Each went through their own major struggles to do what he did in baseball. Show me even one Yankee whose struggles on and around baseball came close to the struggles of these three gentlemen, and I'll add nim to the list.
