FEMA wants over $300M in Katrina aid back
AP - Tue Feb 6, 6:43 AM ET
NEW ORLEANS - In the neighborhood President Bush visited right after Hurricane Katrina, the U.S. government gave $84.5 million to more than 10,000 households. But Census figures show fewer than 8,000 homes existed there at the time.

Good to hear the freeloaders and all the other jackasses that took advantage of the system will get what's coming to them!!!

My question is this:

1) DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS? as stated in the title. It's a simple "yes" or "no" question - Next time Zorro, READ before being a whiny little b***h.

and now

2) What do you think?

Shame on the people who lied. They stole from people who were truly in need. I hope they all get caught, but not at the expense of victims of the next real disaster.

That being said, shame on FEMA and the rest of our government agencies for not being prepared, and then for going overboard. I lived through Hurricane Andrew in Florida, and people were happy to get 200.00 in emergency debit cards. I think $2,000.00 - especially for people who were being given shelter and/or transportation was way too much.

And, finally, limiting individual assistance amounts to 60-some thousand dollars was ridiculous! FEMA is an EMERGENCY relief agency, not the lottery! Oh well, Our tax dollars hard at work once again...

Who cares, at the time of the tragedyl who really thinks about something like that........the main concern at the time was the WELFARE BEING OF THE PEOPLE THAT LIVED THERE, people have got to understand NEW ORLEANS was devastated. So what u are telling me is that prez bush visited one neighborhood, gave 84 mil, and only 8 thous lived there and now they want 300MILLION back, listen before u posted this question u should have done some more homework......if you feel this way about the people of NEW ORLEANS being freeloaders then youR best bet is to stay in your comfort zone, because if u visited various other parts of the united states you would see more freeloaders than you have ever seen in your life BUDDY, i would sure hate to hear your take on all the illegal peope who reside here in the united states would you consider them a FREELOADER......im sure some mistakes were made but do u have to go this far by call them jackazzes, at least some of those people may have did u once but how about the one's who have did it for years and years.........come on......give me a break

It's crazy! It's also sad. The government gets blasted for not responding "properly", so when they pay out claims, some fraud, we end up footing the bill. I wonder why this story isn't bigger, with the media tracking down all the people that took advantage of it, taking away money from the people that really needed it. Interesting...

Toooooo bad the politicians and thier friends benefited from this and not the actual people in a way that would be lasting which it was intended to do. All those trailers and premade homes that were destroyed due to sitting UNMADE AND UN PLACED and destroyed by the weather due to POLITICIANS with thier thumbs up thier buts trying to figure out ways to milk that money for personal gain. BOOOOOOOO FEMA
