My boyfriend had to leave work today because he felt dizzy and was throwing up, I'm worried about what could be wrong with him? He does have high blood pressure and he is only 20 years old, I'm scared it might have to do with his heart and I am not home to take care of him

Sounds like the garden variety virus. He needs to sleep, drink fluids and hope that the trots don't come. Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands....

I'm not a doctor, but I am a mom. It could be something as simple as something he ate or as severe as a stomach virus. Only a doctor can tell. This is what you need to do...

Make an appointment for him to see the doc.

Pour a small amount (1/4-1/2 C) warm milk over 1-2 pieces of toast. Sprinkle with sugar. Make him eat it; it's one of the few things that's almost guaranteed to stay down. He has to have something in his stomach to prevent dry heaves. At the least, give him crackers or toast.

Make him go to bed.

Make sure he drinks plenty of fluids. Water, mild juices, and gatorade are best. Avoid caffeinated and sugary drinks.

Keep an eye on his temp. If he starts a fever, give him Tylenol or Advil and make sure he has a light blanket, not a heavy comforter that traps heat.

(By the way, yes this is going to treat him like a child. Most guys hate it unless they are truly sick. This is a good way to tell if he's fibbing to you or not. If he's not fibbing, this is truly the treatment he needs to get better.)

If he starts feeling better in an hour or two, then it's nothing serious. He should still go to the docs for a slip and to make sure it's nothing serious anyway.

Good luck to you and Blessings

What other symptom's is he having? Dizziness and throwing up can be due to so many things. Maybe a virus, getting a cold, food poisoning. Did he start new medications. The best thing to do is take him to the doctor and find out.

Maybe he has caught a "bug" that is going around. Dizziness, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, fatique, everything but a fever. My son had this last week, lasted about 48 hours. No need to see a doctor, this just has to run its course, clean out the body, so to speak. Doctor advised just to sip water, stay hydrated as much as possible, and maybe munch on chips, or saltine crackers. If not better, or if conditions worsen, to make appointment. Hope he feels better, it is bad while it lasts though.
