Can arrange it via your GP on the NHS or look up private clinics on the net + self refer and pay to have it done at your convenience.
A very minor procedure, takes about 20 minutes with a local anaesthetic and has few side effects. Everything works fine afterwards.

First go to your doctor. They will send you to a family planning clinic or hospital where the consultant will question you again as to whether you are sure that you want a vasectomy. They will go on your age, existing family and marital status. Although a vasectomy MAY be reversable you must view it as being final. It must be given serious consideration as you cannot see into the future. If you tick all the right boxes you will eventually be given a date for the opertion. This is usually carried out under a local anaesthetic. You will experiece a 'tugging and a pulling' a bit more that the dentists filling, but in a different location!!. They will keep you in the outpatients under day care until you feel ok to leave. They will let you leave with a friend to accompany you and not driving!! For the next day or two you may feel as though you have played against Phil Vickery 'down there', but it is not unbearable. You will have to submit sperm for a few weeks to ensure you are able to 'fire blanks' Normally about 6 weeks. Alo believe it or not, you will be checked before the op. to make sure you don't have 3 testicles, it is possible and they will need to snip all three in that case! Good Luck. I have had it done.

Below two UK websites that answers all your questions.
The procedure in itself doesn't take long but you will need someone to drive you back home and you should take 3/4 days off work.
Usually your GP is first point of access to this service. He will tell you where you should go and usually you organise the rest yourself. You'll have a first appointment to assess your situation (if you have a partner, they will ask for your partner to come too)and then they will make an appointment to do the procedure a few weeks later. You will need to semen specimens at 3 months after the procedure and then again at 6 months after the procedure to get the all clear..until then you should use other methods of contraception.

You have to go and see your Doctor first, and you also have to have a good reason why you want the op. If you are married, your partner will have to give permission for you to have it done. I don't know how long it takes.

Please don't be offended, but you MUST ASK YOUR DOCTOR. That is, after all, how one goes about organising a vasectomy...
