My mom and my mother-in-law each made a quilt for my baby. I love them. In fact, I still have the quilt my mom made when she was pregnant with me.

Diaper Cakes are cool and trendy right now. BUT a blanket will last a long time and can become a very treasured gift. If you know how to sew I would say to try that. If not, there are a lot of web-sites on how to make a no-sew baby blanket out of fleece. Like this one: http://www.allkindsofbabystuff.com/no_sew_fleece_blankets.html

Good luck

My mom has two sisters. Each knit my baby something and gave them to me at my shower. My mother knit him a beautiful baby blanket which he now loves. One of my aunts knit him a sweet little sweater. It was the same pattern my grandmother used to knit for new babies. And my other aunt knit him a little lamb stuffed animal. They all went together. It was the sweetest most thoughtful gift ever!!

My Aunt made a quilt and crib sheets to match. Also, with my 3rd son, I was given a tree to plant for the baby. It's nice for the baby to have his or her own tree that will grow right along with him or her. Also, it's a good thing to do for the planet.

diaper cake! i believe the lady took diapers, size 3 and rolled them in a cicle and then stacked them in tiers! she put some ribbon on the edge with double sided stick tape and some roses with some cute plastic kids forks and spoons in the front of them and the 'toper' too!
