some pirates do. it could also be from burning with unregistered program. depends what the message says

the first thing to ask is, is this a bought or pirate dvd?
if it is bought, is the region correct? we are in region 2, if you try to play any other region, you are not authorised to see it by copyright laws.
if it is a copy there are two sets of files that must be removed.
one is the region setting, allowing the copy to be watched anywhere in the world and the second is the macrovision protection that should stop you copying. remove one or other but not both will bring up a authorise message. macrovision will bring up the err message if you try to copy it.
