I am doing a project for a user documents class that requires detailed (manipulatable) screen captures taken from the web, and everything I have tried yields a grainy, crappy, pixalated mess.
I have InDesign, Photoshop, and dreamweaver to work with. How do I do this?

I need help, and fast!

#1 You may need a better moniter or graphics card, the grainyness is related to your display and memory of the capturing device.

#2 Dont use GIF or JPEG format when saving the Screen Shot...

I've seen almost perfect pixel quality when I just use the PRINT SCREEN button on my keyboard, and then I open PAINT and type CTRL+V and it pastes the screen shot in BITMAP format, which is original quality and looks fine...

If you try to make the picture smaller, or edit it with adobe, you will change the pixelation and screw things up...

Use the .bmp extension for saving it.

I also use adobe so I know where you are coming from.

Screen capture by print screen will capture the exact resolution of the exact screen at that particular moment so if wat u need is small of cos it will be jazgged if u tried to blow it up. U may try to captured with ALT + Print Screen so u only capture the running application. I would advise u save directly the image if u wan to protect the original resolution. And try to blow with Photoshop as it will give u the best enlargement than other graphic editing software.

web pages are not vector based so it will always be tough. if you don't like print screen, you may need something like Snagit, but it still won't be perfect since you can't upscale web graphics beyond what they are.
