I'm switching jobs and going from a place that exclusively uses PC's to one that exclusively uses Mac's. I've only ever used a PC and the extent of my Mac experience has been with my ipod. Is there a place online that I can go to get some pointers so I don't look like an idot on my first day?

It's true that kids can learn to use a Mac system in a couple of hours but adults sometimes need a bit more practice since we tend to get stuck in our ways of thinking. Try the links below for some online training that is self-paced and lets you choose the topic.

If they are using OS X, it is not too bad at all. Hardest thing to remember is you only have one mouse button! There is a funky button that acts as the "ctrl"..it has like a cloverleaf or an apple on it.

Your minimize, restore, and close are on the opposite side than windows.

Your taskbar is on the top of the screen rather than the bottom. The Apple icon is equivilent to "Start".

Actual use of programs is pretty similar to Windows, so that isn't hard.

The windows of the applications change the taskbar at the top, and you can see your background while you are in the application. This was something I had a hard time with. It can get a bit confusing.

Overall, it is not bad. I'm sure they will understand, there are lots of people who haven't used Macs before! But the fact you are trying to learn beforehand is good!

Good luck, Congrats on the new job!

The second link that the previous answerer provided is a very good resource so give that a good read.

I would also suggest that you visit an Apple retail store and familiarise yourself with one of the Macs on display. I'm sure one of the sales assistants will also be happy to sit down with you and go through the basics; they're usually good like that.
