I have been communicating regularly by email with someone who I know lives in the United States. I have been checking some of the IP headers of our emails and noticed that on some that the IP address is coming back saying it's located in the Netherlands. I am very confused about this. Is the person using a proxy? Or are they having someone else send me these emails?

I went back and checked it on the Whosis website and it still doesn't explain why the IP is located in the Netherlands when I know the person lives in the USA. Why would the IP headers be different? If they were talking to someone on a messenger over there, could that explain it?

Go here http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp and put in the IP address. It should give you more info on who and where it's coming from.
