Mavs and Suns are obivously the front runners, but anyone could still pull it out. For example, Detroit is starting to look real good now that they added Chris Webber.

AND the trade deadline hasn't even hit so there may be some blockbusters moves that could make a mediocre team into the best thing since sliced bread. The experts are already predicting a busy one this year with lotsa transactions, including players like Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, and maybe even Vince Carter.

It will be easier to predict after the deadline has passed, but even then, who knows?

Are you serious? What's with all the people talking about the Phoenix Suns? They're not that great. It's going to be the Dallas Mavericks. I'll give you several reasons. One. The Mavs have a better record, plain and simple. Two. The Suns are 18-9 against the Western Conference this season, while the Mavs are 27-6. These are the teams that they will have to play in the playoffs. C'mon people. Three. The Suns are (I believe, correct me if 'm wrong) 2-7 against the Lakers, Jazz, Spurs, and the Mavericks. All playoff teams, and potential candidates for Western Conference champions. The Mavs on the other hand, are 7-3 against those same teams. Four. The Mavs have beaten the Suns both times that they have played them this season. There's no need to even start on the fact that the Mavs have a deeper bench, better defense. The can slow down with the Spurs, get physical with the Jazz, out shoot the Lakers, and run with the Suns. Dallas is the most complete team. Period. 2007 NBA Champions.

i would say it comes down to 2 teams. the suns and Dallas would be my main choice. Dallas will win it cause they can play at any pace the play defense and don't depend on one player too much. second Dallas has a nice bench of f c and g that the can depend on. and they all know their place on the team. the reason the suns cant win it. their team is like a two head monster, they have r a great team when Nash is on the floor to distribute and they r hard to beat take Nash out of the line up and they look like a normal team secondly they don't make a great bench, or a back up for Nash. yea i know u all saying i don't know much about basketball .i am talking about but their bench right now r barbosa James Jones and hopefully Thomas. small ball works well during the season but playoff time they going to need better mismatch. secondly their weakness stand out too much if the t'wolves can beat them by slowing the game down and forcing them to shoot from outside, the other elite team wont be afraid to try it. Utah also have play that way and beaten them 3 times. play d and force the sun to play a outside game and any team have a good chance of beaten the suns.

So until the sun fix those problem Dallas is the team to beat

From the way i look at it now there are only 2 teams in the nba playing in a level deserving of winning the title,that would be the dallas mavericks and the phoenix suns.phoenix is so good at pushing the ball,passing and finding the open player on their team,their defense maybe suspect but they sure know how to score more points than their opponents while dallas is a well balanced and a very capable defensive team,they are also a very deep team.I thnik it would be one of these two teams that would win the title

I have to say the Mavs even though I love Steve Nash, because the Mavs have had a Finals experience now, so they know what kind of mentality it takes to get there. The Suns on the other hand don't have Finals experience. Plus, the Mavs have beaten the all the times they've met this year, and the Mavs (to me) have more people on the bench they can turn to than the Suns.
