I'm looking for a cross browser solution that doesn't use an applet or Flash. I developed one based upon the code at http://javascript.internet.com/buttons/d... The script, however, does not work with Mozilla Firefox. Please suggest an appropriate modification. I realize that the code that I referrred to is specific for IE, but at one time I was able to adapt it for Netscape. However, the old code no longer works or Firefox requires a different code for the embbeded player.

The script you note is specific to Internet Exploder. The if(document.all) line is a dead giveaway.

What you want to do is embed a Windows Media Player into the page, then prompt it to play the file whenever there is a mouseover.

However, I advise you against this, as it's annoying and unnecessary to have a link play a sound.
