Get a small dog if he will be inside while you are at work. Seven hours is no problem and your dog will never forget you no matter how often you are away. Rather than leave him with friends, put him in a kennel where you know he will be safe and taken care of properly. Remember DOG spelled backward is GOD. Unconditional love.

A cat is the pet for you. Cats are very independent creatures so they wont get depressed while you are at work all day. They are fun and loving, and they never forget anything so when you travel, they will remember who you are when you come home, and be happy to see you. Just remember to get a "cat-sitter" when you leave the country.

With your scheldule I would say a cat. With a cat you can leave them home all day by themselves and cats will just take care of themselves. You can also leave the cat at home for a week and have a friend check on them why you leave town. A dog yea is sometimes more friendly and more playful but you need to do more for them like take them out for the bathroom and give them bathes. I like both cats and dogs but with me and my husbands life style we have two cats cause we are on the run all the time with work.

A rat. They are interesting to watch more interactive than a turtle, the more they are handled the tamer they are and you can take them out with you and they will happily sit on your shoulder or in your pocket, they sleep for a good part of the day (so they won't miss you when you are at work),they are easy to look after and feed (they eat almost anything but love dog food), they are clean, cheap, quiet and easy to transport.
They can also be really affectionate. We had one escape from it's cage one night and it made it's way onto my sons bed and curled up in the crook of his neck and went back to sleep.

It sounds like a cat would be the best option for you. The people at the shelter should be able to help connect you with an affectionate, playful cat that doesn't mind being left alone. Let them know your needs, and they will do their best to connect you with the right pet.

I would say a cat over a dog but I work 7 hours a day and I have a dog and a dog walker. I love my dog and don't know how I survived without him!

i say u shoulg get a guinea pig. They a are not very loud. They stay in a cage and are very easy to take care of. They eat many fruits and vegetables, timothy hay, and a certain kind of pellets. You need to buy them bedding and clean their cage only once a week. You also need to take them out of their cage at least 3 times a week for exercise and let them have some fun. You can take them outside and walk them if you want outside and let them eat grass. Ihave 2 of them. They always live better in a pack of 2 or more. What ever you do, do not get a male and a female together unless you want ALOT of BABY GUINEA PIGS or if they are spayed or nuetered. Their names are nigel and nibbles.

Cats and dogs are both great pets to have, but if your looking for a true companion I think that the best choice would be a dog. Go to a pet store and interact with both and see which one you would rather have.

dogs and cats are both good. which would u like better...
cats are often very affectionate(SP) and love to cuddle. males are more like that than females.
dogs like to play and jump around-very very playful love attention.
if u get a cat i would NOT suggest an older one. they are boring and all they do is sleep and hide from people.
