My son has had a blocked tear duct for months now. I've been massaging and doing warm compresses and it's still blocked. I have another month before I have to make an appt with a doc to surgically get it unblocked. Any suggestions to help get it unblocked? I would appreciate it, thanks!

It sounds like you are doing the correct thing. Are you massaging the area at least three times a day? If not, try it. Most babies out grow the problem by the age of one, but if your doctor has suggested that the opening be surgical probed than that is the correct coarse of treatment. Sometimes the duct is underdeveloped when the child is born so that is why it is blocked now. Good luck, Oh ,and if the probe does not work the first time they may have to do it again until it heals properly.

nicely if its a clogged duct then it is going to have been a issue from some week previous and might bypass till around his 1st bday. if its a watch an infection which contain conjuctivitis (purple eye) then the antibiotic drops they provide for purple eye are additionally what they provide for a clogged tear duct so if its the two of those then that would desire to assist. the drops are referred to as vigamox. it would desire to be that they think of its a clogged duct and that they desire you to be sure a expert on account that hes 8 months already and it is going to likely be near to cleared up and set that appt up in 3 months on account that hed be closer to a million at that factor and then thats the time they communicate approximately surgical treatment. in case you dont think of its a clogged duct you may continually ask for them to do a fashion of life on the release from the attention to be sure if its an infection or bypass get a 2nd opinion.

Oh those are annoying! I had one and they actually hurt. Use warm compresses on his eye and massage the tear duct with clean fingers. The optometrist gave me a antibiotic ointment that cleared it up really fast but he may be to young for that. Ask your Pediatrician. God Bless
