They want protections by the government from the government?
Unpaid, the government becomes mercenary, which means that "protection" comes mafia-style. If you can't pay, you get beat up (no rights or protections). If someone else can pay more, then you get the rights of the lower bidder (no rights or protections).
For all that, "Pro-life Libertarians" have to be the most naive bunch of fools of all: a fetus has no money, so in a Libertarian "government" it would have NO protections. I'm willing to bet a penny against the fetus that I'm right.
Granted, I'm not for abortion, but unfunded mandates are for morons.

For your information: I have bothered to read the Libertarian websites and the Austrian school of economics websites. Have you? If so, have you thought through all of the implications?

Short Bus 43 (who somehow hid his screen name like a coward): I once dated a Norwegian and have spent time in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. You've obviously missed out on several hundred years of history there. And, no, this was in direct response to the "official" websites I have been browsing. I've also dated an anarchist libertarian. I haven't seen any more original responses to my arguments here since seeing her. "My family stuck to it for a long time and I'm from Alaska?" Let's see... and that's why worshipping Satanism is for everyone? What the hell kind of logic is that?
Could you please start making sense?

Ok, fangtaiyang, I believe in basic freedom too. I also think that with freedom comes responsibility. Who pays the bill for the protection of your freedom from communists? The Pope? Don't you think he will attach a few strings to that protection?
Where's your working example? Where does this exist successfully for decades outside of fantasy?

Conservatives and Libertarianism? Excuse me? They come up with new rules about safety and "do this and don't do that" about once per second. They may agree that nothing needs funding, but you have to be kidding me about freedom. A totally free society like Libertarians are describing doesn't concern itself with proscribing cultural norms by law. You're telling me Libertarians vote for either the Republican or Democratic parties? Ick. They REALLY have to be suckers... But hey, maybe they reproduce fast 'cause I hear one is born every minute...

Hmm... ALunaticFriend, so what you're saying is that the Libertarian banner is actually a CSA flag? I suppose I can understand the argument about proper place of each level of government, but that is NOT what I am seeing written in Libertarian platform positions, philosophical statements, and economic theory. You sure you're representing the right group?

It does not mean an unpaid government. Just a government without so many handouts.Over 89% of all federal money should go to protecting us FBI,CIA, Homeland security, and military. that is the federal governments job. The State governments are the ones that protect us day to day. Get rid of welfare. Get rid of the euducation dep as it exists today. get rid of the IRS.

unfunded mandates are for morons.

So this is about yesterdays budget announcement?

To hear Bob Portman explain Bush's budget was some of the best oxymoronic lies I have ever heard. If lying was an Olympic event he would have got the Gold.

Have you ever thought about the Viking "Everyman Law" I find it interesting that one of the most violent cultures ever on earth had a provision for providing for their most needy citizens. When the warriors returned the plunder was shared.

Today the Nordic Law has slipped into a equal land use law; but the Scandinavian people still hold onto the anchient practice of helping each other.

The way Bush has transformed America from the pinnacle of Democracy to the most hatted of terrorist Nations, is good. As we evolve into tyrannical war mongers the chances of a "Everyman Law" emerging is very likely.

Libertarians do not want protection from the government other than what is explicitly spelled out in the constitution.

Libertarians are fiscal traditional conservatives and are against government involvement in our private lives.

In your world perhaps. In the real world Libertarians are a mix of Conservative and Liberal folk who believe in basic freedom.
