Got this straight from a mechanic friend of mine -- synthetic motor oil is not the be-all-end-all many manufacturers and car jockeys claim it to be. Apparently it's good at protecting certain engine parts from wear but lousy at protecting others. His advice to me was to get the best of both worlds by getting a blended oil like Valvoline DuraBlend. It has both regular and synthetic motor oil in it and it costs quite a bit less than 100% synthetic motor oil.

WARNING: You should ALWAYS use regular motor oil in a brand new car for the first 10,000 miles so the pistons and valves will seat properly. If your car is new, change the oil at 1,000 miles, then again at 4,000 miles and 7,000 miles. Once you hit 10,000 you can use full synthetic or a blend (and based on my experiences I would recommend Valvoline DuraBlend).

Ask Ford as it is a Ford engine ( ithink fully synthetic is a bit thin for this engine)

Call the dealer and ask to speak to someone in service. Then ask to speak to someone in the parts department.See what both departments say.
