You might check the local pawn shops. I found a decent Takamine accoustic there for $50! Just had to put some good strings on it. I play it every day now. Be sure and sight down the neck before you buy anything though. Look for twists and curves in it. Check the body for cracks and any major damage or signs that it's been banged arounf too much. Just common sense. More than likely anything in there will be out of tune. I also found an Ovation Celebrity for $35 one time. I still have it too. Came across a nice LesPaul for $200, but it was gone by the time I came back from the bank. Good Luck.

I've got a Dean acoustic/electric that I'd let go for $250. Not sure if you'd want to come all the way to Texas to get it though.
