Because if Snape were evil, Dumbledore would have been wrong about him throughout the early books. It would be highly unusual to have the supreme good character be so fundamentally and tragically wrong.

I'm still not sure. Until book 6, I totally believed he was good, just a jerk. But now... I still have to believe Dumbledore, and I think there had to be another reason he trusted Snape other than the prophesy. My hopefull mind thinks Dumbledore is not really gone, and that Snape did something other than kill him. We'll know for sure in less than 6 months now. Yeah!!!

Snape is an s o b but he's on the side of good, not evil. Not everybody who is on the right side in a conflict is a very good person.

Because DD said he trusts him..........Snape isn't evil (he's only evil to Harry b/c of James) he is play Voldys game as always learning every detail he can. If not for the order then for himself. Snape is greedy git. Anyways it's my oppinion.
