my doctor told me that if i couldn't hold any liquids down for 24 hours, that i needed to come in for IV hydration. then they'll probably prescribe something for nausea. I'm 9 1/2 weeks, and I'm having the same problem.... WATER, more than anything makes me feel really sick. I'm drinking lots of sprite (which i know isn't that good for me), but somehow the carbonation makes it easier to keep down.

I didn't have it that bad, however, have you tried drinking Gatorade? That helps with your electrolytes. No matter what, please do call your doctor about this. One thing I would request you make sure of--when you take your prenatal vitamin each day-when you do feel better especially-make sure you you take it with food in your tummy. The one time the toilet and I had a "meeting" when I was pregnant-I took the vitamin with fruit juice and no breakfast. When I was ready to eat some fruit-didn't happen. Not for a few minutes anyway. The dr. might, if you are dehydrated badly enough, put you on an IV for a little while-then send you home. Each pregnancy is different. I hope you get over this "part" of the pregnancy soon. Take care.

there is something in pregnancy called hypermesis (ihope that is spelled right) I had it with my 3rd child and it is HORRIBLE, i could not even eat, drink,or smell food without throwing up of dry heaving. I hate to be telling you this but I thought I was the only one, and was scared why I was so sick. I had this until I was 18 weeks. but, normally it goes away at around the 12th week. It does not hurt the baby because the baby is getting all the nutriunts from you that you have stored in your body. I would call your doctor and let him/her know what is going on, because they do have meds that can help if you want to try, i would defitnetly try tums. they are safe during pregnancy (i know....) i took tums like i invented them. my baby was born fine and healthy, and the hypermesis (please check the spelling) will go away. ...my pediatrician for my kids is pregnant right now and she had it to. it is not that common, but, the people that have it know that it is horrible. hang in there, you can make it through! and dont worry about eating a lot , your body will take care of the baby, try to drink, broth or just anything....but def. let your doctor know, and watch for dehydration, do not let yourself get dehyrated. hope this helps you, and good luck, i remember those days,,,but they will pass, and soon you will have that little baby...just think of that baby in your arms when you get sick....it helps...

Yes, I was sick and could not keep anything down for 3 weeks straight. Then I was able to hold some things down. It went on for the first 3 months. My dr gave me a precription for Zofran. A medicine for vomiting and nausea. It worked pretty good. It is somewhat expensive though. Good luck. It should ease off soon.

Im 33 weeks now, and i stayed sick like that up until i was about 51/2 months.... the only thing that worked as far as medication goes was Zofran and as far as drinks, i could only hold down Tropicana Orange Juice.... and ive noticed a few people have reccomended the Zofran already... ASK YOUR DOCTOR FOR ZOFRAN. and whatever u do, DO NOT stop taking your prenatat vitamins. hopefully it'll pass... good luck mama!!!!!

vitamin b6 25 ml three times a day, same time every day, even when you dont feel sick.
You HAVE to keep something on your stomach, even right after vomiting, and long before you feel the need to. Its the lack of food that makes it worse.
It really will pass.
Just for your info, your doctor will probably suggest you take a medication for the nausia.... those medications have a risk of miscarriage. Just something you should be aware of, since its not something the doctors tend to warn you of. All of them carry that risk, Ive heard many a horror story of women who were so sick during their first trimester that they took the medication their doctors suggested, only to have a miscarriage and find out AFTER that it carried that risk. Not something i'd ever want to risk.
But the b6 helps A LOT, it saved my butt. Just stop taking it after the first 3-4 months, since continuing to take a lot of one b vitamin for months and months makes it harder for your body to absorb the other b vitamins.

You should see a dr. for sure. It could be a bladder infection. I was like that for a week before i went to the dr. when i was about 2 months along. Turned out that was what the problem was and once i treated it i was fine. After that my morning sickness disappeared too. : )
