Oh my gosh...my son didn't sleep until he was at least a year and a half...he was hungry ALL THE TIME!!!!!! (He is now ten, and is still hungry!!)
I would just feed him milk/cereal (or whatever he is eating) closer to bedtime and see if that helps...He could not be sleeping through for a number of many reasons...wet, cold, ... misses his mom?? I used to work with a lady that her son just missed her so much, (she worked all day and wasn't home until dinner time), that he wouldn't sleep through the night...he would wake up and want to snuggle and play w/ her...
He will eventually sleep through...some kids just take longer than others to get adjusted...Is he taking really long naps?? Are they later in the day?? If you haven't already cut his naps down to just one a day, you should, and try putting him down right after lunch...I would only allow him a 2, or 2 1/2 hour nap... Hopefully something I've said helps!! Good luck!!

What's his schedule? My 10 month is on a strict schedule now and is actually napping more AND sleeping the whole night through. (most nights anyway)

Plus we taught her how to go bad to sleep on her own when she wakes in the night. Heres how:

Before she goes to bed we do our routine - Brush teeth, Bath, Bedtime Story, Bottle (with some cereal in it), Prayers, and then lights out.

When she first wakes, I let her cry for 5 minutes. Then if she doesn't go back to sleep on her own, I check her diaper and see that all is o.k. Then, I lay her down and tell her it's night-night time and to go to sleep.

Then I let her cry for 7-8 more minutes before I go in and soothe her - but DON't pick her up. I just pat her back and "shhhhhh..night-night..." and leave the room. Then I wait 10 more minutes and repeat the process. I never let her cry more than 10 minutes before I go back in and soothe her.

Some people say to let them cry it out for as long as it takes but I think thats too much. It only took 5 nights of this to get her on track to where she is now.

well if he cries when you leave him just ignore it it sounds harsh but it works and eventually he will put himself to sleep. You're his mum so you know his distressed cries... start taking away a nap time in the day so he will get tired. put him to bed at like 9 and he will get up at 8-ish

give him a shorter nap during the day, and extend his bedtime by about a hour. then give him warm milk before he goes t osleep. that usually helps
