I don't know if the computer "promotes" anti-social behavior, but it certainly ALLOWS anti-social behavior.

Back in the day, before the infamous December 19, 2006 when Yahoo sold out to the bush administration and ditched the best format EVER for political discussion (Message Boards), I visited many boards. I saw and read the most awful, viscious personal attacks imaginable. Simply awful. People calling each other names and threatening and saying things that one would NEVER hear in a public place....

The computer allows people to remain anonymous, while engaging in openly hostile behavior with no real repercussions whatsoever.

And don't even get me started with the violent games. What a curse on mankind. NOT the computer or the internet, but specifically those games. Sorry, they should be outlawed. Far too realistic, far too authentic, and far too close. They encourage pathological behavior -- in people who should be getting social interaction guidance of some kind.

Where are the parents?

Oh, right. Out making money. Well, then, I guess it's ok.

Some people will say it does, some people say that it does not. It does in that people don't spend so much time communicating face to face anymore. Someone could be next door, yet, people would rather im back and forth with one another. Even more so than using the telephone. And pretty much making handwritten letters of the snail mail variety virtually obsolete.

On the other hand, people are making more friends online, even though they may never meet most of them. They are able to expand much further than their city, town, state, country, etc. It's definitely a great tool for shy people...I think it allows some to shed their inhibitions (of course, this isn't necessarily a great thing for everyone).

Really, it depends on how you look at it. Some people it makes them anti-social, some it increases their socialness.

yes, and no. To some people, the internet helps them get to know more people, it has increased your chances for dating, etc. But if you are just a lazy *** fat kid, that does nothing but play video games by himself all day, and just talks to other geeks on the internet, then yes, it does promote anti social behavior. Kids need to go out and play, meet other kids, have them pick on them, build character... that is one reason why everyone is so overweight.

i do not imagine so in any respect. How can something that ought to connect you to at least something else of the international in a heartbeat be separating and anti-social? even with the actuality that it truly is nice to upward thrust up and out and do something effective often times, the interenet and computing gadget are literally not inevitably a nasty element. the computing gadget itself isn't undesirable, it truly is how the guy makes use of it that comes to a decision even if the computing gadget is a device or a adverse rigidity.
