not really. i hardly know anything about most countries. the only couuntry i really know about is france cuz i am taking french.

No, but why should they be? They do touch on other countries in subjects like History and Forign Languages. Yes, learning about other countries is important, but we in America need to figure out what it is we are first, before we venture out and teach our children about other societies.

there's a lot of darn countries out there. the schools DO teach about them, but its hard to dedicate a lot of time on them. our students have a hard enough time learning about our OWN country! :)

who would they focus on? one country over another? and what exaclty would we teach about them? a general education in most countries IS given. but its hard to teach specifics on over 200 countries.
