"(x = 3)(x-4) = 0" is not a proper equation. you have 2 equal signs in there.

I suppose it is (x-3)(x-4)=0
Okay here is the real life situation:

You go to school, first class is math. You look at the blackboard.. Low and behold.. said equation! Must be a conspiracy or something.

the equation is impossible... two equal signs?

i think it's

(x-3)(x-4) = 0

if you dont want to study math, dont try do discredit it with "can you use it in real life"

it's not supposed to be always like that but that equation can be used by engineers who make cellphones, television, bridges, etc. also it's good mental exercise... it's like doing any kind of exercise, you dont always use it in real life(as exercise) but it's healthy. i hope you get my point.
