I ran into him 1 time a couple of moths ago, but have been dreaming about him at least once a week. The dreams always seem to be getting more intense. We did date for 4 1/2 years before we broke up. Please help if anyone can. They are driving me crazy!!!

It is very common for people to dream about ex-partners. Individuals that have been an important part of our lives continue to take up a part of our mind and heart. It is impossible to very dramatically shut the person out of thoughts and feelings. Just because the relationship ends does not mean that all is finished. As we go through relationships we learn and at times pick up "battle wounds." You will continue to dream about your ex boyfriend until you "let go" of him on a very important level, or until you learned your lessons from that relationship. Either way, dreaming about your ex-romance does not predict future involvement. It may be wish-fulfillment, reliving memories, or working out old issues

If you dated for 4 1/2 years then he was probably a very important and HUGE part of your life. That's hard to just forget, whether you still care about him or not. I was with one of my exes for 3 years and occasionally he pops up in my dreams. I just try to remember that he was around for so long that my subconscious sometimes thinks about him even when I consciously don't. I think it's normal. I'm no expert on dreams, but he was in your life all the time for so long, it only makes sense that sometimes he would be in your dreams.

Just because you've gotten over someone doesn't mean there aren't things you miss about the relationship, or things that remind you of him. That's normal. You had an emotional attachment at one point, and this is just the psychological leftovers of it. I still have dreams about my high school girlfriends, even though that was almost two decades ago. Usually it's something like a song (though I'd never thought I'd hear "Quiet Riot" as classic rock), but one time it was a perfume that someone walking by was wearing that evoked the memory.

Here is the only thing you still have mad crazy feelings for this person. These feelings are good and they are healthy. Because you know that you had great times with this person. But please remember that you and him broke up for a reason. Can you remember the reason? Is it worth it? Only you can answer that............... What ever you do just be happy , and sincere with yourself

maybe you are subconsciously still wanting to reunite with him because 4.5 years of relatioinship is really long and you can erase them like that.Whatever you do you will do the right thing. You know what would have been the nice thing? If he was dreaming of you at the same time you dreamt of him.

Seeing him sparked your memories and therefor your subconcious is bringing him into your dreams. Perhaps you didn't have real closure?
