After this baby is born i want to have my tubes tied or something like that. Do they need to cut you open for that? Like a surgery? Im scared of needles and if i end up with a c-section its probably a perfect time to do the tube tieing, but when you have a c-section do they need to do the needle thing in your back? Im freaked out lol. I have placenta previa and they are talking of a c-section if it doesnt move out of the way within the next 20 weeks. What should i prepare for?

i just had my baby 15 weeks ago and got my tubes tied at the same time. i was going for a home birth but after 3 days of me not going past 6 cm off to the hopsital i went. they did give me an epidural and pitocin then after several more hours they did give me the c-section. (yes that's the perfect time for the tubal)

do not be scared. EVERYTHING will be ok no matter what they do. i was against everything about hospitals and c-sections etc...and ended up getting EVERYTHING i was against except and episiotomy. lol

be prepared for discomfort and a few days after, the tubal was really hurting where the inside sutures were BUT a few motrin a day and it DID go away.

if they do give you an epidural HOLD STILL like they tell you too. this can be hard if you are having a contraction but it's doable. hang in there. it WILL be OK and totally worth it. :)

First Relax!!! The neddle thing in the back is not painful. Besides if you are in labor you will be very grateful to have it, Also, if they choose not to do the tubal ligation during the c-section for some reason, the operation for the tubal will be a snap- they make 3 small incisions about 1-inch long in the belly button, and on over the pubic bone. It is one of the easiest surgeries I have ever had. You will feel like you have done alot of situps after. Now for th c-section it will be painful, but nothing you can't pop a pill for.And the faster you get up and move around the faster you will heal. Don't be scared, you will be amazed how strong you are!!

Well with placenta previa it moves in about 95% of the cases so hopefully it does for you. (I am hoping for mine to do the same.) You would need the needle in your back but believe me.. it is so brief you wont notice it. If you deliver vaginally they will just make a little incision in your belly button and do the tube "tying" that way. But even then you need to have the epidural for the pain. I am getting mine done after this baby. I figure the pain of an epidural is well worth not having another baby! But that is just me. I would suggest you talk with your Doctor/Midwife about it at your next visit. Then you will know what he/she says about it. That way you have a better idea of how your doctor does it. Good luck

I had total placenta previa. My OB said I would have to have a c-section and I could easily have my tubes tied at the same time. I wasn't ready to tie the tubes, but appreciated her upfront approach. At week 32, my placenta completely moved out of the way and I delivered naturally. I hope yours does, too. Best of luck to you!

Having your tubes tied while having a c-section makes it the perfect time. Be forwarned, that your doctor may be hesitant to tie your tubes if you are too young. You do not "Have" to have the spinal done but for all these important questions you Need to talk to your Doctor. If he or she doesn't have time then get a new doctor.
Good Luck

I agree with sam. I had 2 c-sections and was put to sleep for both. I would not let them TOUCH my back with a needle. They tried to talk me into it, but I stood my ground and refused. Don't freak out, you'll be just fine. Not long after that, I had a tubal ligation, then a total hysterectomy. I feel much better! It's been 5 years.
God Bless!

I would prepare for a c section. Yes they will give you an epidural for that. But they should be able to tie your tubes while they are in there. If you have to have them tied later they can do it laproscopic. With just a few small incisions and with small instruments. They will put you to sleep for that. Good Luck!

If you are that sure have them do it when you have the c-section. If you don't have a section it is simple band aide surgery through your belly button-2 stitches. You don't have to a an epidural for the section. They can knock you out but you still will have an IV line in your arm or hand.

if you have a c-section unless they put you to sleep you will have an epidural in your back to numb you its really not that bad if dont rite. and you will be awake when your baby is brought into the world. i have had 2 c-sections the first the guy didnt do rite and i was not numb and they had to put me out and everyone got to see my baby before me that sucked. my second baby went great i was numb and awake not only for the birth of my son but during the tying of my tubes as well... i hate to tell you this but unles you get really really lucky you will have some sort of shot either for pain or infection or for an iv ect... its really not that bad. good luck and congrads

Choose general anesthesia and you won't feel a thing. I had my tubes done after a c section. You can refuse the needle in your back thing. That is your choice! There are other forms, ask and they will inform you of what they can do, you choose.
