Light and sound are both waves but differnt types of waves (light is an electromagnetic wave sound is a transverse wave) light can exist in a vacuum sound cannot.
Sound is made out of many different particles basically the air around us or any other gas, solid or liquid that is available. Sound works by pushing these particles in a certain way to create the sound you hear. Light is very different, photons are generally not considered particles they are considered packets of electromagnetic radiation.

It depends on the medium the sound is travelling through. Generally it's air particles, but it can be water, or many other materials. There isn't an actual 'sound' particle. We only hear sound because of vibrations in the air, which vibrate our eardrums, which eventually sends an electrical signal to our brain, which we interpret as sound.

When doing the quantum theory of solids, the 'particle' of sound is called a phonon. It is very important to realize that the wave-particle duality is a remnant of classical thinking and is not an actual aspect of quantum theory. Photons and phonons are simply ways of describing a quantum state of a system.

Sound is disturbance moving through a solid, gas or liquid by compression waves. It needs something to move through. It's alternating rising and falling pressure. No "sound" particle is involved. You just need something like the air for it to propagate..

It's whatever the sound is travelling through. If the sound is travelling through air, then it is the air molecules. If the sound is travelling through water (for example, when you are underwater in a swimming pool and you hear sounds), then it is the water molecules.
When sound is travelling through a solid, then it is the solid material that is vibrating.
