Obama would probably have a better chance of being elected President if he was a Republican as amazing as that might sound. The Republican Party has appointed more blacks to responsible government positions than Democrats ever will. Obama will have to pay homage to the numerous wings of the Dem Party and will end looking like a toadie for the liberal left wing of the Party. If he was a Republican he could do and say anything he wanted (as does Colin Powell, as does Condi Rice as does John McCain) without having to appear subserviant. Perhaps he is not an independent thinker and if so that will come out in the primary elections as the interest groups inside the Dem Party will out him and even if he can make it through the Dem primaries he will be left looking like someone with the only qualifications being his race. This is the age of Hillary and she will destroy the Party's chances one more time in a national election. Never forget that millions of Democrats have voted for Bush in the past two elections and that is simply because the Dem Party needs an overhaul from top to bottom. Obama will get his chance to pretend to be a candidate but the king makers in the Dem Party will not do more than let him play on the swings so that black voters will continue to vote Dem without thinking. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will finish him off and there you go, Dem business as usual and we will probably end up with another Republican President.
