This will be my first Valentine's Day with this particular guy. We've been together about 9 months. He has a REALLY OLD phone, and I was hoping to buy him a new one, maybe a Razr. He always talks about taking my old phones, but he has Unicel and I have Cellular One. They won't work together. So anyways, is a cell phone okay as a Valentine's Day present?

I think that is a bit much for Valentine's Day..especially when you consider the cost of buying a phone "out of contract", which is probably what you would have to do (unless he extended his contract with the phone company and you just paid for the handset). While it is very sweet of you to consider it, I do think it is too much.

If he thinks so than do it, but otherwise I have never heard of a girl giving a guy a not sexual gift for valentines day. If the two of you are already having sex than they usually want that but not something that you actually buy.

i think what really counts is your sincerity & heart, if you really want to give him a cell phone go ahead, i bet he will be impressed not only the phone but also having such a thoughtful girlfriend =) happy valentines' day!!!!

Yeah - it's too much for Valentine's day. Stick to smaller gestures.
