Well i smoked for 8 yrs and wanted to quit and tried many methods but it`s not easy it`s more a mind set stuggle and if you`ve stopped for 3 days jus say 2 urself that you have got this far so whats the point of starting again. But if you start exercising that can also help because u can see what smoking has done to you because you`ll be out breath alot through you`re workout. And once you see you`re stamina start to improve that helps, see the improvement in ur body.I quit without all these great methods u get these days that can help but it`s you`re frame of mind thats really important and even when craving for a ciggy just get a bunch of nub ends in a astray and smell it every time u want one that can help. But thats old school style`s ,buy some patches or gum if think u need it i rate that the more item s to help you quit in theory can work but anyway good luck.

Don't use anything. To stop smoking you have to change your thinking around. If you think you are missing out by not smoking you will eventually go back. If you focus on the health benefits you are getting, leading a new healthy lifestyle then very soon you will not even want to smoke and you will be a non-smoker. Get fit and healthy instead, go for a run, swim or lift some weights, or eat some fruit. You will soon realise you do not want or need the fags!

What I did with the help of a program, was to cut down to two packs a day (40). I then put 39 in a coffee cup and that was all I was allowed that day. The next day I put 38 in the cup. When I was at ten I put on the patch, the step-down kind. Being weak I started chewing nicotine gum at that point and when I was hit by a big craving I would chew one piece of that along with two pieces of "normal" gum. It's been 16 months since I've smoked but I still get cravings every now and then. My doctor told me that nicotine is the only substance that has receptors in the brain that becomes addicted.

Ye dude, ive stopped many times. If you start again ( hopefully you won't) just keep trying to stop you will eventually work out the way that suits you best. i started smoking when i was 14 the 1st time i tried stopping i was 20 and i remember being really dissy and headaches also. The more attempts i made the more i learned how to cope i'm 36 now i've stopped only a week this time and i'm confident this will be the time. Good Luck dude.

Congratulations!!!! first step done!!!!
Tomorrow will be 12 years I quit and it the best thing I have ever done for myself.
I went cold turkey -- I started watching people smoke and noticing the how the people I worked that smoked smelled when they came in from that quick puff, especially the women. Try it - it is not a pretty site or smell.
You have to change your routine. I used to love that after dinner one -- so after dinner I had to get up and wash the dishes or do anything but sit there and miss that cig. When your on the phone walk around the room don't just sit there.
Just change your routine and think about how great your doing - be proud of yourself - pat pat pat on the back!!!!
Best Wishes andGood Luck!!!

I guess nicotine replacement may help and it is easily accessible. Don't be tempted to have even a single puff or you blow the good work so far. It has been shown that people who have 'given up' we have only a couple of cigarettes in the 6 months after they 'stop' are at high risk of relapse. Absolute Cold turkey is the only hope.

Your a non-smoker. Hate people who smoke and buy wrist exercisers, these keep your hands busy and builds up the wrist muscles. After a few months, try a cigarette, it should taste disgusting, you know then that your a non-smoker. Good luck and don't cave in.
