Also how do I rewrite this problem with the middle term as the sim of two terms and then factor by grouping

x^2 + 10x + 24 ????

1. x^2/x=-6x/x just divide both sides by x

x=-6


2.
multiply the digits from 1st and last term (1*24=24) then find the 2 numbers where when multiplied together would give you 24 and when added together would give you 10 (6*4=24 and 6+4=10) so write down the first term plus 6x plus 4x plus the last term

x^2+6x+4x+24

keep factoring

x(x+6)+4(x+6) notice the ones in parethesis are the same so you know you got it right

(x+4)(x+6)

x(x + 4) + 6(x + 4)

(x + 6)(x + 4)
