My friend is a good worker and reliable but he has no business license or insurance.

I've been in insurance claims for 18 +years and I would advise steering clear of the friend if he doesn't have any business insurance. Home repairs gone bad lead to a lot of insurance claims. If your friend causes damages that are covered by your own policy then your company will seek reimbursement from him for anything they pay to you. Good bye friendship if that happens.

Good Luck

I'd do this as a business transaction. Make sure you get an estimate in writing and that the details of the transaction are written down. When is payment expected, what SPECIFIC work they will perform, who will purchase and provide materials, and what are they estimating will be the time frame for completing the job.

Has this person done this type of work before and even though they are reliable and a good worker, will you be satisfied with the work?

Also, do you need a building permit? If so, you will need to find out who needs to pull the permit and if legally you can have someone who is not licensed do this work.

My husband owns a flooring business and is not required by our state to be licensed, but he does have liability insurance to cover any issues that might come up.

If you feel that this person is trustworthy and that they will do the job in a professional manner go for it. I've seen far too many customers that have one idea in their mind and the finished product was good, but not what they expected - All because the specifics of the project were not clearly communicated and agreed upon by both parties (that's why you want to put this in writing). By making sure the details are fully written out and communicated, both parties will end up with a job you both are happy with.

hi, No it does not be rude of you. Do right here; bypass bypass on your buddies, take with you a small present, like something to drink of to consume. So do it in person, not over the telephone. once you're at their doorstep say hi and which you particularly choose so see what they are doing and which you're curious what all that noise and breaking out of issues appears like and what sort of progression it extremely is going to likely be. whilst they have defined to you what they are doing, them tell then that they are working late and which you have problems to get to sleep. Ask them if it would be plausible to give up are some earlier time so as which you will get some sleep, using fact which you may arise early in the morning. i'm specific you come to a pair sort of association suited for the two events. tell them you choose to verify the top results of all their not difficulty-free artwork whilst they are performed. -R

if it's a small project then yes. If he has the potential to screw something up royally then not only will you lose a furnace, you'll also lose a friend
