Science is based on discernable and testable cause and effect relationships. Properly applied, psychoanalysis has proven that there are established causes and effects on a person's behaviour when subjected to different social, emotional and psychological stimuli. Because these affects have been documented, explored, and proven, because it is based on facts and theories, the realm of psychoanalysis falls under the realm of science.
Psychoanalysis is being abused by some psychoanalysts. But, these 'failures' of Freud's theories fail to detract from the positive application of what was and continues to be useful.
