My first baby was at birth:
23 1/2" long
10 lbs. 2 oz

And I bottle fed her!! However, she was ALSO almost 3 weeks late!! I was 43 weeks pregnant when I had a c-section. The doctor actually has a growth chart!!! Saying about the percentile (how YOUR child compares with other children their own age & sex). My first daughter was almost always in the 90th percentile. However, she WAS NOT considered overweight.

She is now 15 years old & is the appropriate weight for her height!!

My grandson is 10 months old, he was bottle fed for 2 weeks and since has been on soy milk as he was lactose intolerant, he is ? inches long, but definitely tall with big feet, but his Mom and Dad are both tall. He is 23 lbs and his Pediatrician said last week that he is the size of a 1 year old.

Katie's seven months and a week now, but at her last checkup (her six month), Katie was 15 pounds even, 25 1/2 inches long. She was 7lb 15oz and 21 1/4 inches long at birth. She is breast (pump) and bottlefed, varying widely in her daily intake. She gets 10-11 oz of breastmilk (all I can get), and anywhere from 10-25 oz of formula. She takes about one "meal" of food a day right now; basically, whatever she feels like grabbing off my plate -we don't really do "baby" food; just regular food cooked soft and cut small, (and, of course, not dangerous). Example: Last night, she had black beans and asparagus. This morning a bit of whole wheat bagel and mango. She likes to feed herself, so, I just go with it; at least she's an adventurous eater :-)

It's really hard to pinpoint an average size since every baby is unique and grows at a different rate from his or her peers. My daughter was a chunky, breastfed 20 lbs. at six months old, but another little girl in our playgroup - also breastfed - has just hit 20 lbs. at one year old. So much depends on body type, etc.

If you'd like to see how your child compares to "average", there's a great little Growth Percentile Calculator at Babycenter (link below) that will tell you how your child falls on the height/weight growth curve that pediatricians use.
