I agree with just about everyone that posted, especially the first person. if you were at a them park such as Disney World Florida, then keep in mind, those are big tourist spots for people from all over the world! Socks with sandals..its so comical it makes your sides hurt from laughing. You didn't offend me, just made me laugh, but truly, it's not just Americans that commit this laughable fashion crime. When I was stationed in Korea last year, every other Korean man there wore black socks or white socks with their sandals. Young and old alike! Thanks for the chuckle!

I am an American.
Allot of men over 60 do this. It does look quite silly. If they are cold they need to put on some real shoes.
The only time I ever do that is if I am in my socks when the postman honks his horn, and then I put on flip flops, or sandles long enough to get the mail.

Are you talking about Disney World in Florida? Because ALOT of the visitors are not American. Having said that....there was two French men walking in front of me yesterday in downtown Bangkok...they had black corrective socks on with white sneakers...my husband and I laughed.
Bad fashion is EVERYWHERE! haha
I agree though...no socks with sandals!

I'm from US and yes socks with sandals are ugly. Be happy that the only eye offense you saw was white socks. I've seen black socks even better.
Not offended in the least, cuz I wasn't one of them.

Ugh--I don't get it either. But some men have really nasty feet and I don't want to see them barefoot in sandals. They should just accept the fact that not all footwear is meant for them and just stick to sneakers and what not.

Terrible isn't it? Mostly its the older men who do this... my father is one of them... and my grandpa... It's not all americans, so you are stereotyping with an expectation for people not to get "uppity", as you put it. Is that rational? No...
