That migth be a good idea, since teenagers needs more sleep than they nedeed a couple of years before, but in the mean time, if you need more sleep, you should try to have a nap during the day, it will really help.

no, teens are not getting enough sleep. between their school, home, and social life, they are wearing themselves out. it is important more now than ever that they have a good, solid, set schedule. school does start too early. even if they only moved up the time that it started by an hour, it would still make a big difference. i don't think that this will happen though unfortunately. however, i do agree with you 100% about this issue.

Where I live, the high school doesn't start until 9:00 a.m. They have done research that states teens stay up later, so in order for them to get enough sleep, school must start later. Also, the research shows that teens pay attention better in classes later in the morning. Our elementary schools start at 7:30 since young children do better (pay attention) in early morning classes. Some parents don't like it since they don't have the teens to babysit the younger children after school. I think it's more important for the teens to get enough sleep and do well in school then for them to be able to babysit.

i don't think of so. I definitely have a tough time falling asleep, and that i'm an exceedingly easy sleeper. On generic for the duration of the college 365 days i'm getting 6-7 hours of sleep consistent with night. for the duration of the summer season, consistent with probability like 8 hours. Haha, are not we meant to get 9? =P

My 14 year old would sleep 30 hours if I let her! I think they need a restful 9 hours, but she wants to stay up late. I agree that school starts a little too early for adolescents and teens.

Totally! There is so much pressure on teens nowadays. They wake up for school at crazily early times ande practically fall asleep in class from what I know! It's no wonder parents have trouble getting their teens out of bed on weekends...

NO. Kids aren't sleeping enough. Adults aren't sleeping enough. We are all caught up in this "rat race" living to work instead of working to live. The consequences of this have been diminished family life, exhaustion, ill health and depression as we strive to attain material items that have little intrinsic value.
