Why do they become hypocritical later. Like if they did this, then they'd tell someone younger than them not to do it, even when that younger person grows up and becomes an adult? For an example why would an older relative do that, and not allow the person to make their own mistakes and learn their own lessons, or send mixed messages like that.

I'm talking about having sex (which is normal and natural), not being addicted to drugs and alcohol but maybe trying them. And personally I think sometimes the older people are biased and they forget how it was like or the fact that they learned something from doing that. But if you shelter someone it doesn't make them happy or really learn, don't you think?

Hypocrites are just stuck in regret. Why do it if you're going to regret it later? The reason we turn into apparent hypocrites as we age is that we become more mature and look back at some of the stupid s h i t we did and realize how stupid it really was. What seems cool in youth sometimes becomes silly with wisdom. For instance I love most of my tattoos, but I have a STUPID one of an ugly a s s flower on my ankle. Was so cool when I was young, is so ugly now.

You make this a little difficult to answer since you dont state anything specific, so I can only venture a guess.

You may be referring to the mistakes older folks make, for ex., trying illegal drugs. Of course they are gonna tell you not to do them. Its not being hypocritical, its concern. Its an attempt to get you to learn from the mistakes they made instead of letting you make the same ones. You are gonna make mistakes, that cant be helped. But if someone could give you a life experience and you can learn from it, the more power to you. If what they were doing wasnt so wrong, then they would still be doing it.

Adults are just protective and do not want the younger ones learn what they learned... They never learned that if they were the ones who taught it and give them the choice to do it and get their thoughts on it... and talk about it... and learn... Most oldies tend to think like that... because they know...

Another thing, if by chance something happens are the people who did them responsible enough to take care of a responsibility... to a life... theirs and their offspring... I can say I will not allow this unless I see that they are responsible individuals... who know what they are getting into...

Hope this helps... ;-)

The wild and crazy stuff provides interesting memories but in retrospect we realize:
1. how dangerous it was;
2. that there may have been no measurable benefits from it; and
3. there were better more constructive things for which we could have been using our lives which would have led to more rewards in the future.

Because people generally mature with age.

But unfortunately, immature people still want to learn by doing, and don't know how to discern between good and bad advice from their elders.

Because people who come before you have already made them mistakes and if it didn't work for them what makes you think it is going to work for you.... (not you specifically but in general)
