What fills the gap between the cell membrane and cytoplasm in a plasmolysed cell?

Air, cell sap, sugar solution or water?

plasmolysis occurs when the solution outside of the membrane is hypertonic, and htus water from the cell diffuses out. The cell membrane will shrink becuase of no pressure from the vacuole, but the extracellular solution will still be there, and it's that fluid which fills the gap

Plasmolysis is the spilling of cell fluids in between the cell wall and cell membrane due to a hypertonic solution. so it would be what you call "cell sap"
