MBPS stands for Megabytes per second and KBPS stands for Kilobytes per second. The difference is 1 Mbps=1024 Kbps. So the speed of Lan, Wan, or internet in Mbps is much more faster than of Kbps.

I know from personal experience that there is a difference. kbps and Mbpsare common units used to measure internet speed. For example dial-up speed is 56 kbps while basic dsl speed is 768 kbps. These units stand for kilobits per second and megabits per second, respectively. kB/s and MB/s, on the other hand, are used commonly to measure download speed. They represent kilobites per second and megabites per second. Since there are eight bits in a bite, a speed of 768 kbps translates to only 96 kBps. This may explain why DSL download speeds can be below 80 kBps.
