There have been so many incredible comeback's in sports history that to choose one would seem almost unfair.
However, in recent memory you could look at the 2004 Red Sox being down 0-3 to the Yankees (and losing game 3 by a score of 19-5) and then sweeping New York 4 straight- before going on to sweep St. Louis 4 straight in the World Series.

To this day, I don't know if the Yankees have mentally recovered from this.

That's only one of several "great" comeback's in recent years.

With the Red Sox down three games to none in a seven game series in 2004, the Sox came back to win four straight to eliminate the Yankees. No team had ever done that before--come back from a 3-0 deficit. That had to be the greatest comeback in sports history.

Chow!!

The 2004 ALCS - Sox beating the Yankees. When a team does something that no other team in over 100 years of history has ever done, then it has to be the greatest comeback.

The 1993 NFL playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Houston Oilers. Buffalo was down 28-3 at the half, then in the third, Houston scored again, 35-3. The Bills, never giving up with the no-huddle being called by Frank Reich brought the team back with 3 minutes left in the game, the Bills led 38-35. The game went into overtime and Steve Christie hit a 32 yard game winning field goal for the Bills. Greatest comeback in football.

1978 - Yankees trailed the Red Sox by 13 1/2 games at the end of August. Came all the way back to force a tie breaker playoff game to win the division. (Bucky Dent's home run) Yankees not only win the division but go on to win the pennant and world series for the second year in a row.

South Central Louisiana State University 30 University of Louisiana 27 in the Bourban Bowl.

Bobby Boucher came in after halftime trailing 27-3 and initially sacked the UL quaterback so hard that it resulted in a fumble returned for a TD, making the score 27-10.

At the end of the game, Bobby Boucher threw a TD to the QB who ran a fake to the left side for the winning touchdown after being down 27-24 with only 14 seconds left to play AFTER the SCLSU Muddogs recovered an on-sides kick.

Bobby Boucher was named Bourbon Bowl MVP and then had "fun" becoming a man!

I would say....that the Red Sox coming back on my Yankees would be 3rd........the Yankees on the 1978 Red Sox would be 2nd......but the "greatest" comeback would have to be Vince Young and Texas against USC had to be the most unbelievable comeback with all of the variables that comes with a football game.....starting when they held USC on 4th down and then Vince marching them down for the win!!!
