When I opened my presario, it took me 15 minutes to find the other slot, so I sympathize with you.

If you are looking at the laptop with the battery slot to the north, the memory bay is due south in the center. When you open the bay, the factory installed memory blocks the view to the other slot. So, first remove the existing memory, then you will see a bar beneath it to the east near the center of the memory bay with a white sticker on the bar. That bar is the slot for the second memory card.

That having been said, I do not advise replacing the memory yourself. If you do, you risk many problems including destroying your computer. It is probably a good idea to take it to a professional.

You could sell both 256+256=512mb and buy only one of 512 mb ddr if you say that if you have only slot for ddr.Or else you could go with your laptop to the firm where have you buy it and claim that you have only one slot in laptop and in his manually it have 2 slot's.Send me an email if you want to chat more.i'm from romania.im waiting.bye bye

Did you pull out the existing module? The other slot may be hidden from view, but once you remove the installed madule you should be able to see it.

You beter go to an HP authorised service centre & they should be able to do the needful for a nominal fee. You will be avoiding lots of problems this way.

The second memory slot is underneath the first memory slot. Pop the one out and you'll see another spot to slide memory in.
