Sometimes when a belt (especially a serpentine one) has alot of miles on it regardless if it is still working or not,the belt gets a glazing over which will cause it to squeal. You could spray all the belt dressing in the world on it,and the squeal will just come back.Other times your belt is just loose. That will cause belt squeal too.Belts are cheap,if you havent replaced it in awhile, replace it and make sure the belt tensioner is adjusted correctly at the same time.Good luck.

If it's 6 years old or more, you probably should have it replaced along with your serpentine belt. The shop will make sure the belt is tightened properly and check your idler pulley for proper operation with the serpentine belt. Squealing usually is the result of a belt that is slipping on its pulley and causing the squeal, especially when you first start the car or hit the gas pedal abruptly.

It's either loose or worn. Rub some bar soap on the inside of it while it's running. Should stop it for a while.
