Does anyone know whether it is possible to send a text message without a phone number showing up at the recipient's end? a friend says you can, but doesn't know how.

First you must now who their carrier is like Verizon, Cingular, Sprint ... if you go to there site they have places where you can just type in the number you want to send and the message like Verizon is vtext.com, Sprint is http://messaging.nextel.com/cgi/iPageExt.dll?buildIndAddressPage&entry=1 they all carriers have a way you can send from their site or simply from email

Yes its easy, just buy a new Sim card for the phone you have and don't tell anyone about your new number :-)

i dont think you can do tht, as the option to reply to the number, you can only hide the number from a phone call
