Yes, I do. Some of the money they have could help so many people, feed the hungry, house the families, provide medical and dental care, pay for needed shots, build playgrounds for the kids who use pavements as their play areas, and to educate all of them. I think when you have so much money like that, you're not going to use it all anyway, so why not give poor people better lives?

Don't think they have an obligation to do anything but live within the law and pay their taxes which are then used for common good. However, many wealthy people do philanthropic things because (1) they believe in it, (2) they like the positive publicity and fame of having stuff named after them, and (3) and this might be the key, they get a big tax break for it. No matter. If people gain from their charity works, then so be it. One thing is for sure poor people don't do much for others so lets give the rich clowns some high fives.

Obligation.... moral or otherwise... absolutely not!!

However, most of them do that by default. By investing and trying to make more money, they create jobs and businesses so that people can have a place to work and make a better living. True, some rich people are misers and just try to keep everything for themselves. On the other hand, studies have shown, contrary to what has been said here, many rich people are not stingy with their wealth. Elvis was well know for helping the less fortunate.

NO, I DO NOT WANT TO SACRIFICE FREEDOM FOR SECURITY . That would have been a great question to ask Madame Clinton ..who is interested in taking money from all of us . Wonder what she & Bill are doing with the millions Bill now receives from foreign communist countries . Hillary gets half and it seems rather unfair that she can use communist money to fund a bid for the White House - if she so chooses..
Ever hear of charities ? Many times they make the world a better place-not like some of the socialist / communist /and yes terrorist ties that the Clintons & Kerry's have , or had ties to . Do they have a moral obligation to fund terrorist groups ? They do it willingly . Everytime we give to a worthy cause we make the world a better place . In a free society we decide - not them .

There are not too many mother Theresa's in this world at the moment, so I wouldn't expect that to happen easily. However, a few are doing quite well, notably Computer Software billionaire Bill Gates. In any case, it's not only reach people, millionaires and billionaires who have an obligation towards making this world a better place for all humankind, but ALL OF US, including YOU! Have you ever thought of giving that extra money of yours or an item you really don't need to a neighbour or stranger in dire need? Few of us hardly ever do that, even though we could easily afford that simple but noble gesture. What the world needs is a religion that has "Each his neighbour's keeper" as creed, as opposed to the present "Each for himself and God for us all" attitude.

Three of the world's richest men, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and George Soros, contribute heavily to social causes. They each have sent up foundations to help those in need. And Buffet has joined Bill Gate's organization to help school children. In this world of media and public relations, it's tough to tell if their purpose is to help the unprivileged or just to get positive publicity and appear as a good Samaritan. I tend to believe that their purpose is sincere, earnest and legitimate. After all, once you reached the mult-billion dollar plateau what's the purpose of trying to make more money and not helping others, that would be totally vain.

Not all their wealth but some of it. We all have an obligation to make the world a little better place then it was when we entered it.

Unless you are talking about the rich socialist, the hollywierdos that are always complaining about capitalism should practice what they preach and give almost all their money away. If they are not willing to do that they need to shut their mouths about the system that allowed them to get rich.

We all hav an obligation to do what we can to make the world a better place. And the best way to start is to quit talking about what soeone else "ought "to be doing and ask yourself "What can I do."

I think that all should have that feel of obligation. "to who much is given, much will be required". That goes for if you make $20k a year or a month. There is always someone else that can benefit from you.
