I would say yes and do check with the airline, normally they have a list of the items you cannot bring rather than items that you can.
Be sure to put all liquids and pastes in the suitcase, even toothpaste and perfume etc. as they will be confiscated if they are in hand luggage, or you have the option to go back to the check in and put the handbag in the hold
Personally I would take as little as possible as hand luggage because the checks can be an inconvenience and if you have none of these items you can go straight through.

This is from Thomson airlines but other airlines may differ

In addition to prescription medicine in liquid form e.g. diabetic kit, baby milk, liquid baby food or special dietary requirement food stuff in liquid form and essential for the flight (all of which will be subject to proof of verification) liquids up to a maximum of 100 millilitres per container can be carried, the definition of liquids is broad and can include the following gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures e.g. lipstick, mascara and the contents of pressurized containers e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols etc.

these should be fine. it is mainly meat and dairy products that are banned but it is best to ask the airline that you are travelling with.

Yes - I do it all the time. Don't carry as hand baggage though.
