I fear that people vote along party lines...that they don't listen to both candidates, and just vote according to their party affiliation. How, on earth, will America climb out of its hole and reclaim its role on the world's stage as a great and powerful nation if people don't open up their minds and vote for the BEST candidate - whoever that may be?

Who is willing to listen to both candidates...with an open mind for each...in order to learn about the politics of each?

It is rare that somebody can watch an election campaign without all ready having a bias towards a candidate. This is due to the fact that most candidates are aligned to a specific party which people then feel connected with or in conflict with. this party alignment means that the majority of voters have already decided to vote for whichever candidate is linked to their chosen party.

I am a Republican and I tell ya, I am not voting party line just for the sake of party line. I am going to listen to see if there is someone that surfaces worthy of my vote. I have not seen that person yet. I have in the past voted for Democrats on the local level because I agreed with their ideas of solving problems.

Yes, I remain open minded and willing to listen.

I agree with you...the party should not be the sole basis for a candidates future. His/her personal abilities should also be put to the test. If he/she qualifies for a post and proves to be better than the other then vote for him/her.

Be careful with that kind of thinking (gasp! Dare to vote outside of party lines!) you may be labeled 'a free thinking liberal'!
