They were never banned. Some stations refused to play them after they spoke out against Bush. They have since been proven to be fairly accurate. They said that they were embarased to be a Texan because Bush was a Texan.

They weren't banned from any "radio." Radio stations and nets refused to play their music, which the stations certainly have the right to do. Most of those stations don't play rap, either. That's also their choice. The last I heard, the Chicks had a new CD out, so I doubt if they're "out in the cold," unless they choose to be.

The Dixie Chicks are in the UK. They lost their appeal here in the States.

They werent "banned" from radio. Its just some stations refused to play them. Radio stations have the right to do that, regardless if it seems right or wrong. They are allowed to play what groups they wish.

The Chicks aren't very popular. Radio stations generally don't play music their listeners don't want to listen to.

Yep, isn't it a sad thing where someone can not voice their opposition to the government where we are suppose to have 'free speech.' I went out and bought one of their CDs after that. To show support for them having the courage to openly oppose Bush and risk their future. When was the last time you did that?
What would ya'll do if Yahoo decided we could no longer voice an opinion against Bush? Think about it.

It is all business and economics. They were entertainers that totally alienated their fan base. Their fans turned against them and it was no longer profitable to play their music on radio. There is no government conspiracy.

America...where freedom of speech is a protected right! Ya right! How many people actually heard what was said, rather than what was reported? And how can you justify the attempts to ruin the career of three people, based upon their political beliefs? Or rather, the political beliefs of only one of the three?
