How can anyone here help you?

Only you and God know what's in your heart. That's where you have to look in order to discover why you really want to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation.

Why write an essay full of some stranger's bull, when you already have the answer, even if you don't realize you do?

You can come up with some phony reason to dupe your Confirmation instructors, your parish priest(s), even the bishop - but you cannot dupe God. That's why you need to rely on what's in your heart and not on the opinions of strangers on Yahoo Answers.

BTY - I am aware of the irony of using Yahoo Answers as a means to give you my opinion.

Good luck.

I can only tell you why I want to be confirmed but I try to give you some ideas

1. there are special graces in this sacrament that will secure you through adulthood and the Holy Spirit comes down upon you like at your Baptism.
2. it is a sacrament of initiation like Baptism and you are considered an adult member of the Church and are willing therefore to take on responsibilities as an adult Catholic
3.like the apostles ,disciples and martyrs of old and today you desire to bear witness to Christ and receiving the Holy Spirit is a step that is necessary in my spiritual life to obtain so I can achieve this purpose
4. you are renewing your baptismal promises your godparents in your stead made for you at your infancy and desire to carry on your faith as your godparents have done and hopefully do.
5.it is a part of my vocation as a Christian to carry out Jesus' mission and the grace of this sacrament will enpower me to do a better job than if I do not receive it.

Some ideas:

Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments, namely Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.

Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation, namely Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. A person who has received all three of these sacraments is considered a fully initiated Catholic.

The priest or bishop lays their hands upon the person receiving Confirmation, the priest or bishop says, "Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit," the person says, "Amen," and then they are anointed with holy oil (just like King David).

Confirmation:
+ Brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:
+ Roots us more deeply in the divine childhood which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!"
+ Unites us more firmly to Christ;
+ Increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
+ Renders our bond with the Church more perfect
+ Gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross

A fully initiated Catholic can be:
+ A godparent
+ A Confirmation sponsor
+ A lector who reads scripture at Mass
+ An extraordinary minister of the Eucharist
. + At Mass
. + To the sick
+ A Sacristan
+ A Cantor
+ And many other ministries

With love in Christ.

Confirmation is like a "coming of age" in the Catholic Church when we're seen as being adults, making our own choices, being responsible for our own morality.

When we're baptized as babies, we didn't have a choice. We didn't even have an understanding about what we were doing.

Now, at the time we're confirmed, we re-affirm our Baptismal commitment and accept the responsibilities. It's up to us to keep our faith strong and not listen to losers who would mock it.

Being confirmed is a Joke....Absolutely pointless made up crap propaganda started by the catholic church. you should write an essay on how your Catholic parents forced you into the religion. And how you have never been able to be a free thinker on your own because you were raised into the religion. Don't get confirmed.

I can't really help you out with the essay part because I myself Refused to get confirmed. Why be forced into that kind of stupidity? I mean seriously? Is it what you really want?

don't listen to that "Red" girl....Its not about making your own choices?? How the heck could that possibly be about making your own choices? Are your parents not catholic? Did you just decide to do this on your own?
