Butterbob -- OK. The war in Iraq, from Cheney's point of view as an energy and engineering mogul -- is a huge cash cow for he and his friends. He stands to gain enormously from an economic standpoint, and has gained. The largest Iraq contract was a no-bid contract which went to Cheney's company -- Halliburton. Cheney's Iraq strategy group consisted entirely of oil executives, under the name of Energy Task Force. Whenever asked about elections, or public opinion, CHeney always says the same thing -- "polls are fickle." What's of special note is that he uses this same reference with respect to elections. That means he equates elections with opinion polls -- a position which shows outright contempt for the public's role in government. After he shot that lawyer in the face, he made no attempt to explain himself and apologize. When he is interviewed by the media, who represent the interests of the public to know about what's going on, Cheney shows nothing but contempt.

More notes: Iraq was not involved in 9/11, and the violence there is sectarians and insurgents. The war in Iraq is not part of the war on terror, so Cheney's planning for the war in Iraq cannot be said to have been in the security interests of the USA.
Let it be noted that no one can cite any evidence that demonstrates Cheney is even mildly concerned about the public interest. The war in Iraq is not a valid answer. Cheney benefits tremendously from an economic standpoint, and the war has strenghened Iran and made the US less safe.

Excellent Excellent Queston!!!
There is ZERO evidence that Cheney respects or even cares about the American people, yet there are mountains of evidence that every policy decision he makes is based on his personal greed.
Continue to follow the Scooter Libby trial. More and more is being revealed about Cheney's role in the treasonous outing of a CIA agent. The story that we have gotten bits and pieces of, that has been called "wild conspiracy theory" is turning out to be 100% fact.
Cheney will be indicted based on what comes out of the Libby trial. We may never know what his "Secret Energy Task Force" recommendations were. All we know is that after his closed door meetings with execs from big oil companies, big oil companies are charging record high gas prices and making historic record shattering profits.
Shame on Cheney! Shame on Bush! Shame on the republican congress for rubber stamping policies that essentially robbed the American people!

Thanks for serving up a few purple meat to the entire Bush-Cheney haters available in the market - they are able to deliver their knee jerk reactions with no need to feel or truthfully discover tips to base their diatribes upon. He is a fine public servant. Everyone likes to tear on Haliburton - and frequently deservedly so. But don't forget that there's no different enterprise on the planet that has their abilities, and no different enterprise has the assets and informed team of workers to do the very intricate task that they do beneath usually hazardous occasions. Ask your self this - if we take Haliburton out of the equation - who then could do one of the crappy matters that they must do? In a few instances there are few, or no, choices. Dick Cheney has served this nation very good for greater than thirty years. He isn't excellent, as no person is, however he will get skewered at each flip, and in general on the grounds that he does not search to pump up the ballot numbers like each empty go well with within the Clinton management attempted. He does his task, and he does it very good. If someone could make an effort to be trained approximately and take a look at to fully grasp marketplace economics, they could see that the instability within the core east, in particular what's now taking situation in Iran, no longer Iraq, is what has ended in the modern day circular of fuel rate hikes. People must compare their possess vigour utilizing conduct and discover wherein they are able to make alterations, as a substitute of being intellectually lazy and accusing the oil firms and precise political leaders of controlling matters which can be past someone's manage.

It's an interesting question - for most of his time in public service (and remember, Cheney has been around for a long time) he has been involved in offices that aren't largely in the public eye. Even in his current slot as VP, most of what he does is not in the public eye, and I suspect that many of his public statements and actions are carefully orchestrated.
In other words, I guess that very few people really know what he does, or how he believes. And anything he does or says needs to be weighed in the context of the larger public relations program of the current administration.

Actually, I'd like you to provide any evidence to support your comment that he only represents himself and oil interests. This is just unsupported smear and insult, with no factual basis.
If you don't like him, fine. If you disagree with his politics, fine. But this crap?? What you're doing here is making false moral judgements against him, and that is both intellectually dishonest and morally reprehensible.
But I suppose it's much easier to take moralistic swipes than actually formulate a coherent political argument, eh?
---
I said "proof", not more liberal spewing of inanity.
Cheney has no financial interests in Halliburton, and hasn't since he ran for VP. Halliburton was chosen because they were already supporting the Iraqi mission and were the only US company capable of doing what they do.
And you're confusing the Energy Task Force with the Iraq thing. Besides, if you're creating energy policy, isn't it only intelligent to talk to people who are experts in exploration, extraction, transportation, refining and distribution of energy? People who know the current state of energy and the future of energy? Just a thought.
As for the rest, it is simply YOUR opinion of what you ASSUME of Cheney based on your animosity towards him.

Why don't you reverse your statement? Is there any evidence that cheney represents his oil interets rather than public interest. Considering the fact that this administration has taken the attack to the ist instead of waiting for another attack.

I've seen nothing to show he does anything but serve his own purposes. If he has done anything to represent the people, he's kept it well-hidden.
