This matter is not left to the sweet will of the 'chivalrous'men in India. Some seats are reserved for women in the city transport which are not tobe occupied by males even if they are unoccupied. Else the conductor will be fined. In Pune all the seats on the left side are reserved for women. While men may not surrender a s eat for a standing woman they will certainly do it if the woman in pregnantm without any goading. These reservation of seats of women is of recent origin. In the 60s even in the absence of such restrictions you would hardly have found a woman standing in a city bus. Men would immediaely got up and offered a seat.

No I wouldn't. What happened to "Men and Women should be treated equally"? This would never happen, because I never take "public transportation", and I doubt I would anytime soon.

If I wouldn't give up my seat to a man having a heart attack, why would I give it to a women who is pregnant? Haha

I am female and I gladly surrender my seat to a pregnant woman.
I certainly don't see why a male can't do the same. It's a kindness and decency issue, not 'equal rights'.

For health reasons they probably should and it would be polite for someone to give up thier seat for them. But if they dont its not a crime, that person is just an ***hole. :)
