It seems like maybe it is prerecorded. Or at least the instrumentation is and the vocals are live. Anyone know about this? Also, if it is live... how could they have all that electrical gear out in the pouring rain this year. Isn't that dangerous?

It is live. They take all precautions to prevent any mishaps.
Even a 5 second delay in the transmission to account for any accidents (wardrobe malfunctions).

It definitely was live. I'm sure that the outlets were closely watched to prevent any electrocution or anything like that. Prince is not my favorite performer but he gave a hell of a show and I think it's very admirable that he didn't cancel the show due to the rain.

I was wondering the same thing, not that i like him but I was concerned about prince getting electrocuted!!! I know they plan and plan but it is incredible that they can get the stage and all that stuff out there...there is a five second delay incase it goes the janet (whoops my boob is hanging out) jackson way...

I guess they have to keep bad weather in mind casue it always a possibility...lotta lotta plaanning...thought the show was really great...just wish we could have someone better to sing...aerosmith could do it up right.

I am sure it was live and maybe just the music part was pre recorded in case of rain. I think that they cvan make a safe equipment to be out in the rain now. Okay, okay...I have NO clue! Sorry!

There are top-notch electricians there and no lightning. It was definitely LIVE. They take every precaution. I'm sure Prince or any of the musicians wouldn't be taking any chances.
